The Pleasure Seekers Exhibition
Good Eye 20th Century Interiors in Washington DC held the Pleasure Seekers solo exhibition of Josh Agle’s work from the 18th to the 20th October 2003. The opening reception at the Good Eye store was from 6pm to 10pm on Saturday, October 18th 2003 with Josh and Piet Agle in attendance. The admission policy for the opening was unusual with colored wristbands giving specific entry times to avoid crowds:
- AA. VIP Pleasure Seekers
- Silver & Gold Wristbands (priority)
- Red Wristbands (6-7:30 pm)
- Orange Wristbands (7:30-8:30 pm)
- Green Wristbands (8:00-9:00 pm)
- Blue Wristbands (9:00-10:00 pm)
Following the opening reception, the Pleasure Seekers exhibition ran on the Sunday and Monday from 2pm to 10pm. The Good Eye store sells mid-modern furniture which sat alongside Shag’s prints for the show. Shag’s 2004 calendar “Around the World in 80 Drinks” was also available for purchase. The exhibition included the exclusive fourteen-color show print Mellow Bacchanal which measures 37″ by 24″. This serigraph print was produced in a limited-edition of 300 copies (plus 35 artist proofs and 5 printer proofs), and retailed for $400 USD. The Mellow Bacchanal print is shown below left and the original 37″ by 24″ acrylic and vinyl paint on panel painting, from the Hedonist Confidential Show in 200, below right.
