Josh Agle on Guitar
Josh Agle played the guitar in several bands including the Swamp Zombies and the Tiki Tones before freelancing as a record label artist and later turning to commercial art.
In January 2003, Shag collaborated with senior master builder John English at the Fender Custom Shop in Corona to create unique Telecaster guitars. The solid-body flamed Koa wood Fender Telecaster Thinline guitars had a matching pickguard and were hand-painted by Shag. John English sadly passed away in 2007.
Kapunu Goes Electric Telecaster Thinline
The 2003 Fender Frontline magazine included the Kapunu Goes Electric Telecaster Thinline. The flamed Koa wood guitar had a Shag painted Tiki scene and Shag designed tribal mask position markers inlaid in green malachite by the now principal master builder Ron Thorn.
Halloween Telecaster Thinline
A Halloween themed solid body Telecaster Thinline guitar was also produced.
Voodoo Telecaster
The Masterbuilt Voodoo Fender Telecaster was built by John English and hand-painted by Shag. The guitar was issued on 15th January 2003. The Telecaster has a Rosewood neck with skull inlays and flamed maple skunk stripe. The Voodoo Telecaster was built for the Winter National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) show that run from January 16th – 19th 2003.
Please let me know of any other custom Shag guitars you know of, but not the Ukulele please.
