L.A. by Night Exhibition
The L.A. by Night exhibition was held at the La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles, California from September 2nd to October 2nd 2005. The show ran concurrently with L.A. by Day at the Earl McGrath Gallery in Los Angeles. This is the sixth solo exhibition of Shag’s work at the gallery following The Twelve Stations of Ptolemy and It’s All About The Tiki in 2003, Bottomless Cocktails in 2002, The Sinners Cookbook in 2001, and J is for Jetsetter in 2000.
The eleven acrylic and vinyl paint on wood panel paintings are shown below.
The show print for the L.A. by Night exhibition was the twelve-color serigraph West Coast Jazz, sized 24″ by 22″ and released in a limited edition of 250 copies. Note that this print was released in parallel at the L.A. by Night and L.A. by Day exhibitions at a price of $250 USD.
More interestingly, the original paintings in the pair of concurrent exhibitions is Los Angeles were also paired into day (at the L.A. by Day exhibition) and night (at the L.A. by Night exhibition) which is easier to see below.
