An Exquisite Hunger Exhibition
Galeria Choque Cultural (Cultural Shock Gallery) in São Paulo, Brazil hosted two exhibitions from the 28th January to the 26th February 2010. The parallel shows were Gary Baseman’s Dream Reality and Josh Agle’s An Exquisite Hunger, which was Shag’s first exhibition in Brazil.
Being part of Shag’s introspective period, his exhibition included three very large canvases with dark and strange, dystopian landscapes. Shag’s exhibition also included eleven smaller original paintings along with many serigraph prints. The exhibitions demonstrate Jonathan LeVine Gallery and Galeria Choque Cultural continuing their collaboration which began in 2007.
An Exquisite Hunger is an archival digital print on canvas which is signed and numbered in a very limited edition of just five. The print measures 72″ by 36″.
The second landscape is called The Trojan Head, which is also an archival digital print on canvas, signed and numbered in a limited-edition of five, measuring 72″ by 36.
The third landscape of the set is called I Will and is also an archival digital print on canvas, signed and numbered in a limited-edition of five, measuring 72″ by 36.
The eleven smaller acrylic on panel original paintings were in a similar subdued pallette to the landscapes.
And to end, a couple of photographs of the stars of the shows – Gary Baseman and Josh Agle.
