The World, The Flesh & The Devil Retrospective
Pure Color Gallery in Laguna Beach, California ran The World, The Flesh, & The Devil retrospective from October 26th to November 19th 2007. This retrospective of Josh Agle’s work featured thirty-five limited-edition serigraph prints plus two limited-edition giclée on canvas prints. A second show named The Flesh is Willing ran in parallel at the Laguna Art Museum, also in Laguna Beach, from October 28th 2007 to January 27th 2008. Professional photographer Mike Kelly is the owner and operator of the Pure Color Gallery (photograph below right).
The world, the flesh, and the devil are the three enemies of the soul according to Christian theology (mundus, caro, et diabolus in Latin in case you were wondering). These sources of temptation are referenced many times in Christian texts including within the Summa Theologica written by Thomas Aquinas. The two limited-edition giclée on canvas prints were The Day of the Tiki and Scene of the Crime. Each of the prints measured an impressive 92″ wide by 41″ tall.
