The limited edition print The Organic Dimension was released at the Shag Store in Palm Springs on Saturday 15th October 2022. The 16-color serigraph measures 40.5” by 22.5” and is in a limited edition of 200 prints. The special release price is $600 with Shag hosting this event. This print created for Modernism Week celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Lautner Hotel (named after its architect John Lautner) in Desert Hot Springs, California.

Benedict Canyon Print Release Party

The Seafarers Print Release Party

The Seafarers Print Release Party at the Shag Store in Palm Springs was held on Saturday, August 20th from 6 pm to 9 pm. The Seafarers is the long-awaited, expanded version of Shag’s Harbor Happening mini-print that was presented to attendees of the Sunset Cocktail Party during Palm Springs Modernism week 2020 as a fundraiser for the 1961 Stuft Shirt building. The 16-color print measures 39” x 25”, was released in a limited edition of 200 and priced at $500.

Las Vegas Pastoral Print Release Party

Las Vegas Print Release Party
Shag Store Las Vegas – 6-9pm on Thursday 30^th June 2022
The Las Vegas Print Release Party at the new Shag Store in the Palms Casino Resort was held on Thursday June 30th. Hosted by Shag with an open bar, free raffle and live DJ, this event featured the release of the long-awaited “Four Martini Lunch” print. The original painting “The Four Martini Lunch” was sold at Corey Helford Gallery’s Pink Elephants exhibition in 2013 for $11,000. The event also featured a new Las Vegas themed tote bag designed by Shag.

Shag’s Devo “Are We Not Men?” Print Release Party

The Shag Store in Palm Springs held the Shag’s Devo “Are We Not Men” Print Release Party from 6pm to 9pm PST on Saturday June 11th. The 10-color “Are We Not Men?” serigraph is an official Devo release, in a limited edition of 200 sized 29″ by 25″. The unframed print retailed at $500 until 6/13/2022 when the price increased to $800.

12th Anniversary Party
The Shag Store in Palm Springs held its 12th Anniversary Party from 6pm to 9pm PST on Saturday 28th of May. The celebration included the release of the “Under the Seventh Sea” serigraph.  – a companion piece to the 2021 print “The Teraphim”. This free event includes complimentary cocktails, Iive music from The Martini Kings and Josh Agle in attendance.

How to Win Friends Release Party
The How to Win Friends print was released at the Shag Store in Palm Springs on Saturday 16th of April. The release party was held from 6 pm – 9 pm with Shag as host, open bar and Iive music. The 21-color How to Win Friends serigraph measures 32″ by 21″, is in a limited edition of 200 and cost $400 during this event.

Seven Magic Rooms Release Party
The Seven Magic Rooms print was released at the Magic Castle on 15th March to its private members and released publically at the Shag Store Palm Springs on 19th March from 6-9pm.

Shag’s Modernism Week Print Release Party II
The print release party for The Lost Tortoise serigraph was held during Palm Springs Modernism Week on Sunday 27th February 2022 from 6-9pm. The free event was hosted by Shag with an open bar and live music provided by The Martini Kings.

Shag’s Modernism Week Print Release Party I
The print release party for the 35 Wheels serigraph was held during Palm Springs Modernism Week on Sunday 20th February 2022 from 6-9pm. The free event was hosted by Shag with an open bar and live music provided by The Martini Kings.

The Suite of the Future Release Party
The first print release party at The Shag Store in 2022 was on Sunday 23 January from 6pm to 9pm. The Suite of the Future serigraph print is inspired by Disneyland’s past attraction “The House of the Future”, paid homage to by The Howard Johnson Resort in Anaheim, California with a new hotel suite called “The Suite of the Future”. Artist Shag was commissioned to create a new piece of art for the hotel room, resulting in this 23-color, 36″ by 25″, signed print. The print was available for $600 until 24 January when the price raised to $800. Shag hosted the event with an open bar and live music provided by The Martini Kings.

The limited edition print is the first picture below, followed by the original painting and pictures of the suite of the future at The Howard Johnson Resort in Anaheim, California. A small deluxe print will also be available in the Howard Johnson’s gift shop.

Tiki Week
Tiki Week at the Shag Store ran from 10-16 January 2022 with six days of releases:

• Day 1: New colorways for the Tiki-Ti 60th Anniversary and Tiki Oasis Arizona 2021 tiki mugs.
• Day 2: Framed Mr Tiki Caliente prints from October 2021.
• Day 3: Tapa Highball Glass Sets in turquoise and green or orange and purple.
• Day 4: Two new table lamp designs – Jungle Cats and Monstera.
• Day 5: Two Aloha Shirts from Trader Sams and Tiki Ti.
• Day 6: Mini Mo Chimineas in Ono Orange and Gemba Green.

A bonus colorway of the Hui Nua Tiki Mug was also released at the end of Tiki Week.

2021 Events

Goth Party
The Goth Party at the Shag Store on Saturday 30th, 2021 from 6-9pm features the release of the 15-color serigraph Goth Night. The original Goth Night image was used on a tote bag in August 2021.

Jojo and Lolo Throw a Birthday Party Book Release
Josh Agle illustrated his wife’s Glen Agle’s first children’s book “Jojo and Lolo Throw a Birthday Party”. The book signing and release party was on Sunday October 17 2021 from 12-2pm. The 24-page color book is published by Nailor/Wills.

The Uphill Climb Release Party
The Uphill Climb Release Party was held during the Modernism Week Fall Preview at the Shag Store from 6-9pm on October 16 2021. The 13-color 28″ x 43″ limited edition (200) serigraph cost $699 at the event.  The John Lautner designed Bob Hope House is shown top right and the John Lautner designed Elrod House middle left, both located in Palm Springs on Southridge drive.

When Cats Become Cool Cocktail Party
The Feline Fanatic serigraph was released at the When Cats Become Cool Cocktail Party from 6-9pm on October 2 2021. The 13-color 22″ x 30″ limited edition (300) serigraph cost $499 at the event. The image was commissioned as the cover of CA Modern magazine’s fall 2021 issue. The Martini Kings were present for excellent music.

The Prized Pineapple Party
The Prized Pineapple Party was held at the Shag Store from 6-9pm on Saturday 18 September 2021. The 13-color 39″x16″ limited edition (200) serigraph cost $499 at the event. Music was provided by The Martini Kings, signature drinks were provided by a hosted bar. A studio proof edition of the Maku Maku mask and accompanying serigraph was also available.

Ray’s Mistake II Cocktail Reception
The Shag Store in Palm Springs held a cocktail reception from 6-9pm on Saturday 7 August 2021 to celebrate the release of the Ray’s Mistake II print. The 13-color limited edition print is officially approved by Hollywood’s famous Tiki-Ti cocktail bar. A Tiki-Ti cocktail Aloha shirt was also released at the event.

10th & 11th Anniversary Party
The Shag Store in Palm Springs hosted its joint 10th & 11th anniversary party from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday 19th June 2021. The event was hosted by Shag with live music from The Martini Kings. The limited edition print Dolce Dolce Dolce was released at the event – sized 38″ x 20″, 10-color serigraph, LE100, hand-signed and numbered, $499. Twelve hand-painted and framed Tiki panels were also released for $2,500 – sized 5″ x 8″/14″ x 16″ (framed), hand-painted and assembled by Shag.

2020 Events

Tiki Week at the Shag Store
Shag Store Online/Shag Store Palm Springs – Monday 6th July – Friday 10th July
The COVID-19 pandemic claimed the Shag Store West Hollywood which permanently closed on 31st May 2020. All Shag events worldwide were put on hold until the situation improved.
Enterprising organizations started to hold online events to retain product interest and make sales. The Shag Store held an online Tiki Week from Monday 6th July to Friday 10th July with a surprise release each day, trailed with a silhouette..

Jay and Silent Bob Event
Shag Store West Hollywood – 7-10pm on Friday 13^th March 2020
Josh Agle (Shag), Jason Mewes (Jay) and Kevin Smith (Silent Bob) visit the West Hollywood Shag Store for a cocktail party from 7 to 10pm on Friday 13^th March. This second Jay and Silent Bob event of 2020 features the giclée Jay and Silent Bob vs Time and Space which measures 27.5” by 32” and is hand-signed and numbered by Shag, Jay and Silent Bob. It is produced in a limited edition of 200 for $569. Due to the Covid-19 virus, the event was limited to those with VIP tickets only.

Cocktail Cats Print Release Party (Modernism Week event two)

The second Palm Springs Modernism Week event at the Shag Store was the Cocktail Cats Print Release Party. The three-color serigraph titled Cocktail Cats was produced in three different colorways, each in a limited edition of 100. The print measures 21” x 10” and had a pre-release cost of $299. The three colorways are Turquoise and Orange, Green and Orange and Brown and Orange.

The Misstep Print Release Party (Modernism Week event one)
Shag Store Palm Springs – 7-10pm on Saturday 15^th February 2020
The first Palm Springs Modernism Week event at the Shag Store was The Misstep Print Release Party. The fifteen-color serigraph titled The Misstep measures 40” x 16”, is in a limited edition of 200 and had a pre-release cost of $449. The print depicts the Palm Springs house designed by Albert Frey in 1946 which includes a pool that extends inside the house.


Million Dollar View Party
Shag Store West Hollywood – 7-10pm on Saturday 25^th January 2020
The new Million Dollar View print release event is held at the West Hollywood Shag Store on Saturday 24th January. The large serigraph is a companion piece to the popular 995 Skyline Drive print from 2016.

Jay and Silent Bob vs Time and Space VIP Party & Hosted Event
Shag Store Palm Springs – 6-10pm on Saturday 4^th January 2020
The Jay and Silent Bob vs Time and Space print will be released at the Palm Springs Shag Store on Saturday 4^th January. The 27.5” by 32” giclée is hand-signed and numbered by Shag and released in a limited edition of 200 for $499.

A private VIP party with Jason Mewes (Jay), Kevin Smith (Silent Bob) and Josh Agle (Shag) is available from 6pm to 8pm and includes a maximum of 136 guests. The $599 package includes a triple-signed Jay and Silent Bob vs Time and Space print, a photo opportunity with Jason, Kevin and Josh, an additional guest pass, and complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

The VIP party is followed by a hosted event, with Jason, Kevin and Josh, from 8:15pm to 10pm. The Jay and Silent Bob vs Time and Space print will be available at $499 during this event. Tickets to the hosted event were provided to anyone who purchased an item online from the Shag Store. Note that Jason and Kevin will not be signing prints at this hosted event.

Charles Phoenix Holiday Jubilee Book Signing

Ambassador of Americana Charles Phoenix attended a book signing at the Palm Springs Shag Store from 7-9pm on Friday 18th October for Modernism Week Fall Preview. Charles’ new book Holiday Jubilee features classic and kitschy festivities and fun party recipes. It is a hardcover of 192 pages with 500 images.

Tiki Mug Throwback Event

The painting “Eight Shades of Drunk” from Corey Helford Gallery’s 2013 Pink Elephants Exhibition is finally made into a print. The Eight Shades of Drunk Print Release Party is at the Palm Springs Shag Store on Saturday, September 7th, 2019 from 7pm to 10pm.

The Dimension of Mind Release Party & New Product Launch
Shag Store West Hollywood – 7-10pm on Saturday 24^th August 2019
The West Hollywood Shag Store event from 7-10pm on Saturday 24th August features the release of a new set of three Twilight Zone prints titled “The Dimension of Mind”. Each print measures 8″ x 10″ and they are a signed and numbered limited edition of 200 sets. The images are from the three Twilight Zone original series episodes (left to right below): To Serve Man (episode 89), Nightmare at 20,000 Feet (123), and Eye of the Beholder (42) for those interested.
The event also included the release of the new “blondy” edition of the Kanku tiki mug – this colorway of the 2018 mug and is in a limited edition of 100. Harveys LA Modern bag also launched at the event where Shag attended to sign products.

Christmas in July Party

The Shag Store in Palm Springs held a fun-filled Christmas in July party on Saturday 6^th July 2019. The free to attend event featured live music from Martiki, complimentary cocktails and snacks. There was new merchandise in the form of Christmas cards, limited edition prints and “other fun Shag stuff” (cloisonne pins).

KISS Print Release Party
Shag Store West Hollywood – 7-10pm on Saturday 29^th June 2019
The Shag Store in West Hollywood held the KISS Print Release party from 7-10pm on Saturday 29^th June 2019. The original “October 29, 1976” painting was exhibited at the 2018 Crime on Canvas group art exhibition at the Life is Beautiful Music & Art Festival in downtown Las Vegas in  September 2018. The painting features American rock band Kiss appearing on the Paul Lynde Halloween Special broadcast on October 29^th 1976. The Halloween-themed television special included three performances from Kiss who sang Detroit Rock City, Beth, and King of the Night Time World. The DVD “Kissology: The Ultimate Kiss Collection Vol.1 1974-1977” includes footage from the show with a clip of Kiss meeting Paul Lynde and singing King of the Night Time World. A set of temporary tattoos were given away to attendees.

Shag Party & Release – Limited Edition Mini-Phaedra & Little Phaedra Print Set

The Shag Store in West Hollywood held the mini-phaedra sculpture and little phaedra print set release from 7-10pm on Saturday 20^th April 2019. The mini-phaedra sculpture is 21″ tall with a base sized 6.25″ x 3.75″. It is produced in a limited edition of 99 comprised of 33 sculptures in each color – dark charcoal, burnt orange, and alabaster white. The accompanying Little Phaedra print measures 7.5″ by 11″ and is hand signed and numbered by Shag in a limited edition of 99. The sculpture and print set retails for US$699.

Shag’s Palm Springs Pink Elephant Party was on Saturday 30^th March at the Shag Store Palm Springs from 7pm to 10pm. The new print Slush Fund was released at the event. The print cost US$175, is limited to 200 copies, and measures 8.5″ by 7.5″. The 3-color serigraph is hand signed and numbered by Shag. The vinyl Lamp Shade Edition Pink Elephant Bank retails for US$75 and measures 7″ tall by 7″ long and 6″ wide. The limited edition of 200 was manufactured in 2018 by 3D Retro.

3^rd Anniversary Event at Shag Store in West Hollywood

The Shag Store in West Hollywood held it’s 3^rd Anniversary Event from 7-10pm on Saturday 8^th December 2018. The limited edition 21-color serigraph print Life is a Great Big Bang Up is released at this event. The print is sized 40” by 26” and is produced in a limited edition of 200 with a pre-event price US$599 (rising after 9^th December). Spiderman creator Stan Lee collaborated with Shag and approved this print prior to his sad loss earlier this year – he also cameos. 
Nutty Album Release & Shag Signing Party
Shag Store Palm Springs – 5pm-7pm on Saturday 10^th November 2018
Shag returned to his roots for an Indiegogo campaign for Nutty’s new CD “Live at the Purple Pit”. Nutty is a Los Angeles based jazz octet who interpret pop and rock classics in a swinging jazz style. Their third album showcases their strengths as a live band. Shag created an original painting for the album cover and this “Live at the Purple Pit” image was available as a CD, T-shirt, poster, coaster and vinyl LP record album. The Nutty Album Release & Shag Signing Party was held at the Shag Store Palm Springs from 5pm to 7pm on Saturday 10^th November 2018. The free event includes Shag and the band, plus cocktails, and precedes Nutty’s concert at the Purple Room that evening.
The Indiegogo campaign raised US$12, 635 and offered a CD for US$25, a T-Shirt for US$50 (including CD), a signed 16” by 16” poster , or a cocktail kit for US$175 (CD, T-Shirt, 4 rocks glasses and 4 coasters – including one by Shag).

The fez version of the Pink Elephant Bank was released at the Queen of Sheba print release party. The 7” deluxe designer vinyl figure doubles as a coin bank by removing his hat to deposit money.

The Purrfect Crime Print Release & Cat Party

The Purrfect Crime Print Release & Cat Party was held at the Shag Store in Palm Springs, California from 7pm to 10pm on Saturday 8^th September 2018. The new serigraph The Purrfect Crime measures 19″ x 31″, retailed for US$399 (pre-event price until the 10^th September), and was produced in a limited edition of 200 hand-numbered and signed prints. Shag attended to sign work, additionally there were complimentary cocktails, music, and lots of prints and cushions featuring cats.

You Never Can Tell Print Release Party

The You Never Can Tell print was released at the Shag Store in West Hollywood on 25^th August 2018. The hand signed and numbered 15 color serigraph measures 34″ by 18″, is produced in a limited edition of 200 copies, and costs US$399 (pre-event pricing rising from 27^th August 2018 to US$499). The event included complimentary cocktails and live music from The Shag Store’s house band The Martini Kings.

Sunset Strip Shag Party & Print Release Event!
Shag Store West Hollywood – 7-10pm on Saturday 9^th June 2018
Shag released the Live on the Strip print at the Shag Store in West Hollywood on 9^th June 2018. Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles County, California stretches from Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Coast Highway with the sunset strip section of Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood famous for its active nightlife. The new Live on the Strip 20-color serigraph print measures 39″ x 24″, with a retail cost of US$599 (rising to US$699 from June 11^th). It is hand signed and numbered by Shag who attended the event.

A free copy of the book Riot on Sunset Strip: Rock‘n’Rolls Last Stand in Hollywood was given to purchasers of the Live on the Strip print during this event. The book author Domenic Priore was also in attendance to sign books and meet guests.

8^th Anniversary Event & Print Release Party!
Shag Store Palm Springs – 7-10pm on Saturday 26^th May 2018
The 8^th Anniversary Event & Print Release Party! at the Shag Store in Palm Springs, California took place from 7pm to 10pm on Saturday 26^th May 2018. The free event launched the new Palm Springs-themed print On a Sunday Morning in addition to providing complimentary cocktails, food, and music. Josh Agle was present to meet attendees and sign merchandise purchased at the store. The On a Sunday Morning giclée print measures 60″ x 24¾” (paper size), retails for US$699 as a pre-release price rising to US$799 after May 28^th, and is produced in a limited edition of 200.

Shag also created eighteen hand-painted Tiki mug panels for the Shag Store 8^th Anniversary Celebration. Each unique panel is hand constructed, painted, and assembled by Shag. A removable wooden straw and swizzle stick are included in each 15” by 15” by 1.5” panel. The Tiki mug panels are signed on the side, have a CoA attached to their back, and retailed for US$2,288 each.

TIPSy Desert Party
The Ivy Plus Society held it’s TIPSy Desert Party at the Shag Store in Palm Springs, California on Saturday, April 14^th from 11am to 3pm. The free event for over 21s included cocktails, music, mingling and great artwork.

Palm Springs Polynesia Release 
Shag Store West Hollywood – 7-10pm on Saturday 7^th April 2018
The Tiki exhibition and Palm Springs Polynesia print release party is hosted by the artist Shag and includes complimentary cocktails and music. Rare Hula Girl artwork by Shag is being shown and the Palm Springs Polynesia print released. The eighteen-color Palm Springs Polynesia serigraph print measures 29″ by 20″ and is produced in a limited edition of 200 copies. The print retails at the event for $399 USD, rising to $499 USD post-release. The Kanku Tiki Mug was designed by Shag and produced by John Mulder (head Tiki mug maker at Eekum Bookum Tiki Mugs) for this event in a limited edition of 100 mugs. The Kanku Tiki Mug is based on the 1950’s original Tiki Bob mug.

The Royal We Print Release Party

The Royal We print release party and rare architectural print event included live music from the Martini Kings, complimentary cocktails, and Josh Agle in attendance to personalise merchandise. The Art of Tiki Book Signing

The book signing event for The Art of Tiki included authors Sven Kirsten and Otto Von Stroheim plus introduction writer Josh Agle. The Art of Tiki is a 176-page book published by Last Gasp chronicling the Tiki idol as an art form through contemporary artworks and the mid-century Polynesian pop which inspired it. The event was run during Palm Spring Modernism Week 2018.

The Imposters Print Release Party

The Shag Store in Palm Springs celebrated the release of The Imposters print with live music from the Martini Kings, Shag in attendance, and complimentary cocktails. The Imposters is an 18-color serigraph print showing Simon and Garfunkel performing in Gary and Joan Gand’s beautiful Palm Springs’ House. The picture measures 59″ by 23″ and is limited to 200 copies. It retailed for $749 USD at the release party rising to $799 USD post event. The event was run during Palm Spring Modernism Week 2018.

The event included four new Hawaiian shirt designs by Keoni at $250 USD each, a pink elephant glassware set and the Duet for Two Cats print. The twelve-color serigraph print Duet for Two Cats measures 26″ by 18″ and was printed in a limited edition of 200 copies.

Leopard Print Party

The Leopard Print Party at the Shag Store West Hollywood included complimentary cocktails, music by DJ Wyatt Magnum, and Josh Agle present to sign items. Mad Monster Party Brunch

Rick Goldscmidt, official Rankin/Bass historian and author of the Mad Monster Party book, joined Shag at the Palm Springs Shag Store for the Mad Monster Party Brunch. At this 50th anniversary of the original film, there was Mad Monster merchandise available plus free cocktails, music, and the release of the Shag print Mad, Mad, Mad Monster Party. The fourteen-color serigraph print measures 36″ by 20″ and retailed for $399 USD at the event and $449 USD after.

The Shag Store Grand Reopening
Shag Store Palm Springs – 7-10pm on Saturday 21^st October 2017
On the 2^nd of August 2017, a fire in downtown Palm Springs seriously damaged the Shag Store, Trio restaurant, and two neighboring businesses. There were no injuries but there was extensive damage including over $100,000 USD in artwork and merchandise at the Shag Store. A temporary space opened on Saturday, September 2nd next door to the original space. The grand re-opening of the store took place on Saturday, October 21^st during the 2018 Modernism Week fall preview weekend. The event included music from the Martini Kings, complimentary cocktails, and Josh Agle present to sign his work. The Trio restaurant expanded to absorb the old Shag Store space and the Shag Store took over the remaining two units in the building. The new store is three times the size of the original, approximately 3,000 square feet. The Pina Colada Popsicle seventeen-color serigraph 26″ by 39″ vertical print was released at the event in a limited edition of 200 copies and a retail cost of $549 USD.

Mad Monster Party Print Release

Sailor Jerry’s and Reyka Vodka supplied the cocktails and a Shag temporary tattoo sheet was given to all attendees. Shag attended to personalize his work for guests. The sixteen-color At the Peppermint Lounge serigraph print shows the Cramps in concert, measures 35″ by 17″, and was produced in a limited edition of 200 copies.

New Shag Book Signing and Leisure Principle Print Release

The annual Shag Store holiday party and release of the new Chimpanzee shirt took place in December 2015. Labor Day Sale

The Labor Day Weekend Sale at the Shag Store Palm Springs had 10% off framed prints and the release of the Maka Maka print and hand-carved wooden Tiki mask set. The mask dimensions are 24” tall by 8” wide by 3.5” deep, the serigraph print measures 18” wide by 11” high. The set was limited to 50 copies only and retailed for $800 USD.

The first anniversary of the grand opening of the Shag Store in Palm Springs was celebrated with a reception and Shag present to sign artwork. The fifteen-color serigraph print, The Matched Set, measures 29″ by 15″ and was produced in a limited edition of 175 prints.

Shag Store Palm Springs – Saturday 18^th September 2010
The Disneyland Years: 2002-2010 exhibition at the Shag Store in Palm Springs, California was held from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday, 18^th September 2010. The event featured all of the prints and merchandise designed by Josh Agle over the eight year span. There were several artist proofs of the Disneyland prints from the 50^th anniversary lands to the Haunted Mansion 40^th anniversary and 50^th Disneyland anniversary park map. The event also offered the black, white,  or yellow Shag Store T-shirts (crew or v-neck) available for $15. Audrey from LuxeriaMusic.com supplied the music for the event.

Shag Store Palm Springs Official Grand Opening
Shag Store Palm Springs – Friday 8^th May 2010
The Shag Store in Palm Springs held its official grand opening on Friday 8^th May, 2010 (following a soft opening during Palm Springs Modernism Week on Saturday, February 13^th, 2010 at 2:30 pm when 25 prints were shown). The store was the first permanent space dedicated exclusively to the artwork and merchandise of Josh Agle (Shag) – early artist impressions juxtaposed against store photographs below. The show print for the event was The  Roadrunner, measuring 21″ by 15″ and produced in a hand-signed and numbered limited edition of 150 prints.
